While I was on the interstate right outside of Batesville today, something in the sky caught my eye. At first I thought it was the sun shining off a plane but as I looked at whatever it was, it streaked downward across the sky and fizzled out, almost like a firework. It was a lot brighter than my terrible artistic rendering and large enough and high enough in the sky that I doubt it was something set off by someone.
Can you see shooting stars in late afternoon? Can they be that large? It was unlike anything I’ve ever seen before and I’m equal parts fascinated and terrified by what I saw.
